  11. WILMINGTON, N.C. -- March 1, 1991 -- DoveFax™+, a new addition to the DoveFax
  12. product line that adds voice messaging capability to the current DoveFax will
  13. begin shipping on March 15, 1991.

  15. Dove Computer Corporation, a leading manufacturer of productivity enhancement
  16. products for the Macintosh® and NeXT™ computers, began shipping the DoveFax
  17. Desktop, the first ANSI/EIA-578 Class 1 Standard data/facsimile modem, in June
  18. 1990.  The DoveFax combined 9600 baud send and receive fax capability with a
  19. 2400 baud Hayes®-compatible data modem.  Features of the original DoveFax
  20. Desktop include automatic answer, redialing, scheduled transmissions and a
  21. menu-driven interface that simplifies sending and receiving a fax.

  23. "The addition of voice messaging to the DoveFax was in response to our
  24. customers' need for a complete, full featured, telecommunications product,"
  25. said Rick Greene, executive vice president.  "The product eliminates the need
  26. for a separate answering machine,  facsimile machine, and data modem and costs
  27. approximately one-third of the combined cost of the three units if they were
  28. purchased separately".

  30. The new model records voice messages, plays back customized voice messages for
  31. callers, forwards messages, allows for remote message retrieval, and receives
  32. facsimiles in the background.  User friendly software allows simple intuitive
  33. control for playback and recording.

  35. The DoveFax+ is available for all Macintosh computers (except the 512 or 512e).
  36. Suggested retail price is $549.  An upgrade for current DoveFax Desktop owners
  37. is available through resellers at a suggested list price of $249, or for $149,
  38. direct from Dove.
